Why pollinators (including butterflies) need help

They are in peril because of:

  • pesticides

  • non-sustaibable agricultural

  • climate change

  • habitat loss

The Good News:

You can make a difference!

Pictured here is the Atala butterfly, they were nearly disappeared in their native range in South Florida because their host plant, Coontie, was over harvested.

But, people in South Florida started planting Coontie in their landscapes and now their populations are stable! I have them all over my neighborhood in Central Florida and they are beautiful!

Why is this important?

Without pollinators, the human race and all of earth’s terrestrial ecosystems would not survive. Why is Pollination Important? | US Forest Service (usda.gov)
